Head of Operations

OpusV has grown strongly, as it has taken advantage of a significant investment in Critical Infrastructure in the region. Our team has doubled in size in the last 24 months, presenting the usual challenges any rapidly growing company will face.

We are seeking an experienced, and high performing Operations Manager to lead our Operations, Observation and Project Delivery teams. They will work alongside the executive team, and collaborate in leading operational execution through clear strategic process, and a refining vision for operational excellence within the solution and development efforts of the broader company.

The operations, observations and projects team are the largest department at OpusV, and the successful hire will provide key segmentation, team leader development, and structural reshaping to ensure employee well being, professional development, and overall excellent client experiences within their departmental area.

Key Job Role Requirements:

  • Staff Scheduling, Resource Management and Client Scheduling (in cooperation with Project Management team)
  • Working with ProjMgmt for overall project timelines, delivery and operational outcomes
  • Staff development, professional up-skilling, specific technology development, recruitment and employee well being (in cooperation with HR)
  • Management of core software platforms for helpdesk, ticket management, reporting, document management, observational and situational awareness platforms (Zendesk, nAble, Azure Arc/Intune, checkmk)
  • Maintain internal systems for whole of business function and support (Azure/O365, and SAP with vendor support)
  • Work with the broader company stakeholders to maintain compliance with SOCI, ISO27001 and other information security standards as required
  • Administer staff timekeeping and ticketing systems, so that utilisation and billing process (in cooperation with Finance team) workflows continue, and improve
  • Delegate work to team leaders, and developer new capacity and function in developing leaders to grow the department function as a whole.

OpusV supports a flexible work-from-home arrangement; however, employees are expected to attend the office 2-3 times per week.  The Head of Operations will be responsible for managing the work-from-home schedules of the Operations Team.  Residence in Melbourne, Victoria, is strongly preferred, unless exceptional circumstances warrant an alternative arrangement.  Relocation support is available for the right candidate.  

It would be expected that the successful applicant will have a strong technical background, with recent engineering understanding in the cloud (AWS, Azure) and on-premise infrastructure fields (Server, SAN, Hypervisor, Route&Switch). The level of this knowledge is to the extent that they can engage with engineers in the team and be able to understand the challenges the engineer is facing, and ensure the direction being taken is reasonably correct. Subject matter expertise and hands on engineering capability is not required.

Specific Technical Skills:

  • Use of JIRA, Connectwise, Zendesk and nCentral platforms
  • Strong data analytics skills using appropriate tooling (Excel, SQL, PowerBI, other vendor specific query languages)
  • Ability to communicate professionally and clearly to client and executive colleagues
  • Comfortable with Windows, Linux and OSX operating systems (for end user usage)
  • Strong writing and written report capabilities
  • Sensitive and nuanced interpersonal skills, with evidence of dispute and conflict management
