Project Engineer

Job Summary

As a Project Engineer at OpusV, you will be expected to manage a project's engineering and technical aspects. This includes coordinating with various teams, managing schedules, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and providing technical guidance to team members.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed project plans that includes timelines, required resources, and risk assessments.
  • Design and implement new network solutions.
  • Improve efficiency of existing network/s.
  • Install, configure and support of network equipment. (Routers, Servers, WAN Accelerators, DNS, DCHP, etc.)
  • Configure firewalls, routing and switching to maximise efficiency and security.
  • On-going monitoring, troubleshooting and maintenance of the network.
  • Working together with PMO to arrange scheduled updates and outage windows.
  • Investigating network faults.
  • Reporting and communicating network status to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide feedback on feasibility of technical design.
  • Design and implement a test plan to verify function of design/s.
  • Lead a team on implementation of the technical solution.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the project team members.
  • Coordinate with various teams, including design, manufacturing, construction, and maintenance teams, to ensure project goals are met.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, technical specifications, and change orders.
  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and vendors.
  • A valid Australian Driver Licence and access to reliable transport to access work and client sites as required

Requirements and Skills

  • Cisco Route and Switch CLI expertise, including dynamic routing (OSPF, BGP), tunnels (GRE, IPSEC), RADIUS/TACACS, network ACL’s, cellular modem configuration, VLAN’s, trunking and QoS (shaping and policing).
  • General server hardware management utilising OOBM systems such as iDRAC, iLO, CIMC or others, including configuration of RAID
  • Design, configuration and operation of SANs (e.g. Nimble, IBM, Exagrid, Lenovo) to serve a high availability environment.
  • Experience with using backup and recovery software (Veeam) to ensure continuity and recovery processes for 100’s of VM’s and physical machines per client. Including architecture of a complying BC/DR plan for clients.
  • Architecture and implementation of cloud-based backup and continuity procedures in Azure, and specifically O365 applications.
  • Palo Alto Firewall design, configuration, maintenance and operational support
  • Expertise in Azure: VNet, VPN Gateway, Firewall, AADS, Conditional Access, PIM, NPS integration, and O365 backup strategies Platform knowledge including but not limited to:
  • Configuration of NPS servers and integration via AADS to Azure ID
  • Office 365, SharePoint, Teams and other end user applications configuration and management
  • Automation and scripting knowledge including some knowledge of PowerShell, Python and BASH
  • Familiarity with the basics of networking and compute in the AWs environment
  • Thorough knowledge of the VMWare and HyperV Hypervisors, some familiarity with the Nutanix platform.
  • Expertise in configuring ISCSI in a range of scenarios and vendor equipment, including CHAP auth. With understanding of multipath requirements needed for hypervisor storage configuration.
  • Thorough knowledge of desktop operating systems, their enterprise enrolment, and their policy-based configuration and management.
  • A solid understanding and experience of the Linux Operating System (focused on RHEL/Centos/Rocky, or the Deban/Ubuntu distributions), including application installation, repository management, logging configuration, service management and file/filesystem management
  • Use of DNS servers at a provider, local (Windows DNS and Linux BIND) and in relay and filtering configurations
  • Solid understanding of SMTP protocol mail flow, MX records, mail authentication and reputation systems (DKIM, DMARC, SPF) and common mail servers (Postfix)
  • Familiarity and some experience in cybersecurity fundamentals, and how good cybersecurity practice needs to be included in base design, implementation and operation of all key systems and processes.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualification in IT or Computer Science Engineering or commensurate experience. Minimum of 5 Years’ experience on significant projects and complex technical problem solving.
